TV personality Larry Emdur and wife Sylvie have sold their Kangaroo Valley holiday let, Sky Ridge, with its asking price discounted to around $2.78 million.

The local agency Belle Property had it for 64 days before its eventual sale this week.

Sky Ridge is an off-grid, solar-powered, eco-friendly home sitting on four hectares.

The property had failed to secure a buyer when it was listed at $3.5 million in February last year.

The Kangaroo Valley home is made from shipping containers.

Emdur bought the property in 2020.

The most recent guidance was $3 million for the Alexander Michael-built home, constructed from shipping containers, which Emdur bought for $2.15 million in 2020.

It had been used by the family after Emdur shed a couple of Bondi Beach investments he had held for decades. However, a turn to rebuilding and renovating homes in Berowra Waters, the Hawkesbury hideaway spot which can only be accessed by boat, prompted the listing.

With 25 for sale, there’s only been two house sales above $2 million in Kangaroo Valley so far this year. Taliesin, which translates to Rising Mist, sold for $2,825,000 and Eyrie House, an architect-designed mountain retreat, fetched $2,475,000.

Sky Ridge had been leased out by the The Morning Show and The Chase Australia host for short stays for $1000 to $1200 a night.

The sale included the furniture at the Mount Scanzi Rd house.

It sold to a Sydney buyer who will use the South Coast home as a weekender with plans to install a pool.

Kangaroo Valley is a very tightly heald area with PropTrack data showing there were just 5 house sales last year. The average home has taken about 130 days to sell.
